Andrew was born in 1952 and lived until quite recently in St. Albans. Though inclined to the joys of painting from an early age felt obliged to get a "proper" job rather than attend art school. Whilst working initially in art studios and later on in the electronics industry he would enter paintings for consideration in open exhibitions. In 1991 he was fortunate in having one of his paintings accepted for the Discerning Eye exhibition at the Mall Galleries London and has also shown work in open exhibitions at the Wardown Park Art Gallery Luton.
After periods of redundancy, unemployment and subsequently self-doubt and depression he feels indebted to Ben Bolger and Yvonne Garrod of The Prince’s Foundation. After seeing his portfolio they encouraged him to contact his local education authority and to seek advise regarding higher education.
He has recently completed a foundation course in art and design at Barnfield College Luton, where exploration and experimentation were key factors to broaden the mind to what Art can be rather than what Art is. As with music, art can have many forms each as relevant as another, but ultimately down to ones own personal taste. At the moment he is experimenting with painted pasta as an art medium whilst eagerly awaiting attending Middlesex University later this year to study fine art to degree level with a goal to eventually teach art.
