Born in Bedford at the
Wait for the Wagon, Pub in 1954. At 16 I was encouraged to pursue
my interest in art by having an Indian ink drawing of a Little Owl
published in Bird Life, The Royal Society for the Protection of
Birds magazine. For many years I ran a wildlife hospital which in
one year took in over 500 patients. This gave me an opportunity to
paint detailed wildlife studies. I have appeared twice on
television to talk about my exploits.
My favourite medium is
currently pastel which dominates my work but I also work in other
dry mediums, water colour, and oil. I have exhibited regularly in
various exhibitions throughout the County over the years and have
undertaken a range of commissioned work some of which went to
America and France. I am presently Technical advisor for art at
Kempston Rural Lower School and teach art to the U3A at Dame Alice
School.
Wildlife subjects are my
main interest and I try to create a composition that is indicative
to the creature being portrayed. I also do very abstract work when
it takes my fancy.
