After three years at Art College I moved to Birmingham to study a Fine Art Degree at the University of Central England. During a year out of University I became an artists in residence at a high School in Luton. It was at this school as a part of their 'Art and Media Factory' that I carried out many public commissions including a large stained glass window for a community centre and 24 large fabric banners for part of the decoration at the Luton carnival. These projects involved the efforts of many children from the area and had local media attention. After graduating from University I was offered a teaching post at the High School and have since obtained qualified teaching status whilst working at the school full time. I have also been a visiting lecturer at Colleges and University's in England.
I am a printmaker by trade, but since undertaking different residencies throughout Bedfordshire, I have become more flexible in this area. I now express myself in many other different mediums, although printmaking has always been my preference.
In the past, much of my art was based on architectural subjects; mainly antiquated and historical buildings. Since then I have broadened my interests into other areas such as landscape, still life and natural forms. The experiences I have and the things I see in my every day life provide a perfect form of inspiration to fuel my creativity. Although my work is based on mainly figurative aspects, I want to give the viewer more than the visual alone. Many people that have viewed my work have told me that it exudes great expression and feeling. To me this is most pleasing to hear, as it is what I ultimately strive for in my art.
Exhibitions and commissions accepted.
