I am currently working on a series of free-standing and wall mounted pieces influenced by
furniture design. They are placed in ‘family’ groups or ‘married
pairs’ and combine sinuous organic shapes with the clean lines of slab construction.
The pieces are decorated with slips and glazes, once-fired and then subjected to
controlled saw dust firing. A number of the pieces have a functioning drawer, both as a
recognition of the influence of furniture design and of the functional heritage of all
ceramics.
I intend all my work to be emotionally
engaging and to express the natural human affinity with all that is simple, pure and
harmonious. |
