Although Mark has been
interested in drawing and painting since he was young, he did not
however take up painting seriously until later. He uses acrylics,
oils and water colour as well as pastels.
Mark's early works were
drawn principally from biblical and mythical sources, and they
have included some portrait work. He has however in the last 20
years been attracted to landscapes and still life. In his oil and
acrylic paintings he has developed a style which echoes to a
greater or less degree abstract as well as medieval art and he is
also inclined towards a minimalist approach.
Mark has taught art in
Bedfordshire Schools and has exhibited locally with other artists,
at Sue Ryder appeal exhibitions, at Bowen West and other venues.
Also through membership of the Bedford Art Society as well as
Artists Network. His major work is a set of the Stations of the
Cross which he painted in the 1970's for the Church of St Philip
and St James, Brickhill, Bedford. They were also recently
displayed at St Andrew's Church, Kimbolton Road, Bedford. |
