Su Kiteley was born in London, educated in Leamington Spa and obtained a BA Hons Degree in Philosophy at Sussex University. She followed this with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education at Sussex and then moved to Bedfordshire in 1971.

Su produces paintings and prints using a variety of media, experimenting with and developing ideas and techniques. Her work often depicts human and animal figures, trees, rocks and plant forms, focusing on the patterns and shapes they make and sometimes using them as the starting point for abstract compositions.

She is interested in visually exploring the broad concepts underlying human existence, its place in the natural world and some of the mythologies used to interpret it. Themes such as emotions and relationships also play an important part in the subjects portrayed in her work.

Media used include oil, watercolour and acrylic paints, pencil, pastel, prints using linocut, monotype and drypoint and also scraperboard and plaster.

Su has exhibited and sold her work through specialist shops and galleries, via many group and solo exhibitions, as well as direct from her studio. She is a member of the Artist' Network (Bedfordshire) and takes part in their annual Open Studios.
