Thelma's interest in water colour painting stems from her school days, where she was stimulated but the diminutive but dynamic Sister Jean at the Convent.
She subsequently studied at the London College of Fashion and St. Martins College of Art. She worked as a fashion designer with a London House and the as an exhibition stand designer.
She eventually stared her own fashion 'design and make' business in London, and shortly afterwards moved it to Bedford to establish D'Arcy and Rosamunde with her sister which they ran for 31 years.
Apart from a short dalliance with oils under the influence of the late Maurice Cambell- Taylor, Thelma's painting ability lay dormant under the heavy pressures of Fashion, Farming and Family.
Having now been relieved of most of these distractions, Thelma has been able to resume and develop her former enthusiasm for water colour painting and some of her work has been accepted by the Royal Water Colour society.
Thelma believes that the great lesson she learnt from Sister Jean was the ability to see what to many passes unnoticed and her objective is to help others to do the same.
